Question: My 3-month-old has used a pacifier to fall asleep since she was a week old, but now she suddenly refuses to take it. Instead, she prefers to suck on my shirt or other fabric. This has made napping and sleeping more difficult. Is this a new way she is self-soothing? I'm wondering why this change happened and what I can do.
Answer: Babies change preferences like a lot. Could be early teething, or just decided she's over that paci model. Sucking on fabric is def a self-soothing thing for some. Maybe try a different paci shape/material? Or if she's happy and safe with the fabric (like a small lovey, supervised), maybe just roll with it? Less to wean off later, like you said! It's tough when they switch up the routine...
