Question:
Hello Doctor, my 4-month-old baby currently weighs 9 kg. I would like to know the correct dosage of Champ Red (Acetaminophen) syrup for my baby. How many milliliters (ml) should I administer?
Answer:
Here is the dosage guide for Champ Red (Acetaminophen) for a 4-month-old baby weighing 9 kg.
[Dosage Calculation]
• Based on body weight: 90–135 mg (9 kg × 10–15 mg/kg)
• Based on Champ Red syrup (32 mg/ml): 2.8–4.2 ml
• Recommended dosage: 3.5 ml (112 mg)
• Dosing interval: Every 4–6 hours, up to a maximum of 5 times a day
[How to Administer]
• Accurate measurement: Use the syringe enclosed with the medicine bottle.
• Administer slowly into the inside of the baby's cheek.
• If the baby vomits, you can re-administer the medication after 30 minutes.
⚠️ Precautions:
- Even if there is a fever, if your baby is playing and eating well, there is no strict need to give a fever reducer.
- Only administer the medication if the body temperature is 38.5°C or higher AND the baby is fussy or uncomfortable.
- If the fever persists for more than 3 days, please visit a pediatrician for a consultation.
Please double-check that the medicine bottle clearly indicates "32 mg/ml." If your medication has a different concentration, please ask again!
