Question: My 7-month-old is very content playing by himself in his play area. He will play for 15-20 minutes at a time, happily laughing and babbling. However, when I try to play with his toys with him, he doesn't seem very interested and often turns away to do his own thing. He enjoys interactive games like peek-a-boo with me, but not when it involves his toys. Is this normal, or am I not playing with him correctly?
Answer: Gonna be honest, I'm a little jealous! A baby that plays so well on his own is the dream.
This is so, so normal. You're doing a great job.
Babies at this age are just starting to figure out how to interact with the world on their own. His little brain is on fire when he's exploring those blocks by himself - that's his "work." It's a huge developmental milestone
