Question:

"I had a lumbar puncture yesterday in the emergency room. I am taking several medications for pre-existing conditions. After the procedure, I slept for a long time. Now, whenever I try to stand or sit up, I experience an incredibly severe headache with intense pressure, forcing me to lie down immediately. The pain is significant even when I am lying down. I've also noticed a clear, watery fluid leaking from the puncture site on my back, making my shirt wet. Is this normal, and will it get better on its own, or should I seek medical help?"

Answer:

This sounds rough, and you're not being a baby. Go back to the hospital. Leaking fluid and that kind of head pain after a lumbar puncture isn't normal and needs to be checked out ASAP. It might be a CSF leak. If you absolutely can't get to the hospital right away, at least call your doctor or the ER for advice NOW. Lying flat is good for now, but you need to be seen. Can someone help you get to the hospital?
